When I saw that the Works for Me Wednesday theme was 5 Ingredients of Less, I felt like it was made for me. I don’t love to cook, so most of my tried and true recipes are 5 ingredients or less.
One of our favorites is Blueberry Dump Cake. I recently made this for a Boy Scout dinner, along with a chocolate cake. I fully expected the chocolate cake to be eaten first, but this Dump Cake was gone in less than 5 minutes. And I had people I didn’t know coming up and asking for the recipe. Now that doesn’t happen to me very often!
Blueberry Dump Cake
1 can apple pie filling
16 oz frozen blueberries (1 1/2 bags)
1/2 c sugar, divided
1 box white or yellow cake mix, we prefer white
1 1/2 sticks butter, melted
Spread pie filling evenly in the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Combine the blueberries and 1/4 c sugar, mix well. Spread the blueberry mixture over the pie filling. Dump the cake mix over the blueberries, do not stir the layers together. Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, sprinkle with remaining sugar.
Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes. Serve warm.
Enjoy!

This sounds delicious (how could it not, with all that butter!) My kids love blueberries– I’ll have to make this for them.

I’ve made this dump cake before – it is FAB! However, I didn’t melt my butter, but I did grate the butter over the top. (I used frozen butter, so it wouldn’t melt in my hands)
Great recipe!

I’m glad it was a success for you. It’s so easy, I make it pretty often.
