        Oh, my best birthday present was when Mr. Right planned a vacation for me. He called and made plans for work, he secured the bed and breakfast for 4 days and he made appointments for massages.

        Best birthday was when my wife surprised me with an Xbox 360. She was able to sneak it into the house right under my nose. Then while I was downstairs making her something to eat, she came running downstairs telling me their was something (like a bug)on the bed and I need to go up and take a look. I ran upstairs to the bedroom and was so focused on finding the bug on the bed (cause we had a spider crawl in be with us the night before) that I didn’t notice the Xbox 360 sitting on the bed. After I finally noticed it, I was so happy! Nowadays…she plays the Xbox 360 waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy more than me as she’s become a little video game junkie! Lol. We both love it though.

        My favorite bithday present was when my two best girlfriends kinda kidnapped me and took me to the beach for the weekend for my 25th birthday, we called it my quarter life crisis get away, but it was totally awesome. One of those friends was my roommate and she woke me up to give me a pint of my favorite icecream for breakfast the morning we left, it was an awesome weekend!

        My favorite birthday gift ever was a ring that was given to me by my son, then 6. He helped his dad do chores for months to “earn” money. Imagine my surprise when the earned money was not for a new toy for him!

        My birthday is tomorrow! My favorite gift so far was the arrival of our newborn last week… she was due today! We are January girls :)
        Although if my husbadn gets me diamond earrings I have been wanting since the birth of our older daughter (almost 4 years ago) then that owuld be a close second :)

        When I was little around 6 years old, I got a pair of pink overalls and these really cute rain boots. I still remember those overalls. I wouldn’t take them off. I also trashed them because I wore them all the time. So my mom would patch them up with cute patches. Boy I thought I was special in my pink overalls. The thought of the overalls still make me smile.

        My favorite birthday gift ever was when I turned 21. My fairly new boyfriend, his brother and his brother’s girlfriend came out in the middle of a blizzard to bring me to a bar so I could properly celebrate. LOL
        This theme is good…I had totally forgotten about that day and it is a good memory. It also helps us reflect on what we do have in our lives.

        My husband’s romantic birthdays for me have always been fabulous. One of my favorite birthdays was when he woke me up with a few envelopes in his hands and told me to make a wish. I wished that I didn’t have to go to work, and he handed me an envelope. Inside, it said that he had already arranged with my boss for me to have the day off. Then he said to make another wish. So I wished that HE didn’t have to go to work. . . another envelope, another wish granted!!

        The funniest birthday gift I ever got was…well it wasn’t funny at the time but thinking back now it really was.

        When I was 10 I got a walkman (they were trendy than, like the ipods of today) and I thought I was SOOO cool. My bday was on vacation in Colorado and in several of the pics of the trip I have the walkman on and I appear to be in my own little world jamming!

        My birthday is in the winter time when there is a ton of snow on the ground. My husband and myself were married for only a few months when we were hit with a snow storm a few weeks before my birthday. He goes to the hardware store and come home with a red shovel, hands it to me saying .. Happy Birthday. I made him return it and informed him I don’t do outside work just inside. He returns the shovel and come back with a red laundry basket, hands it to me and with a big grin on his face says .. Happy Birthday. That was 22 years ago and we still talk about it.

        My favorite birthday gift ever… hmm, well, it’s a tie. When I turned 15, my boyfriend of only a few months gave me a gold ring with my birthstone in it, and then when I turned 19, he gave me an engagement ring!         I’ve received many great gifts so it’s hard to choose but the one that sticks out is from yesterday.         Just one favorite birthday gift? I would say my elliptical machine! My husband got me this for my birthday a few years back, and to be honest, I used it for laundry for quite some time…. when I first started using it, it hurt, and bad…. now I use it everyday, and I have much more energy, and feel better all around. Not that I haven’t had bigger birthdays since then, but back then (1983) McDonalds was THE place for birthday parties and I was just so sad that all my other friends got to have parties there and I never, ever did.         My favorite birthday ever was my 22nd. My first time away from home. My hubby called & arranged for me to have the night off work – although I didn’t know that. He took me out to eat. He took me to see a great new movie that was out. Then he took me to see the Nutcracker Ballet which I had wanted to do for a long time. The end of the evening had us at home where there were a dozen roses on the table for me PLUS a new kitten!!!! It was an amazing evening & one I haven’t forgotten nor plan to ever.

        That’s easy–for my 21st birthday my younger sister (she’s 9 years younger) fixed my favorite pony statuette from when I was a child. She had thrown it in a fit of rage when she was about four and two of the legs fell off (and most of the hair fell out). She molded new legs for it, repainted it and drew a new design on it plus she somehow gave it new hair (I don’t know how…but she’s artsy). When she presented it to me I near about cried from how much work she must have put into it and love.

He came to my house early in the morning and since I’m not a morning person he had a soda and donuts (my favorite) for me, flowers sitting in the car, lots of great gifts so I would have no idea what he was up to. We went to a drive through zoo (I love zoos) and he asked me in the zoo. :) Can’t top that. haha

        My best bday present had to be when I was 19 and got my long hair tri colored chihuahua. My mom let me pick out whatever dog I wanted.         My favorite birthday gift was this past year when I turned 30. I opened my e-mail and my dad had made me a homemade birthday card on the computer. That was impressive since he’s still learning how to work with online technology. The homemade card had a bank statement scanned into the card. My father and mother had paid off my car! I couldn’t believe it. What a huge blessing! The bigger blessing was the creativity in him scanning the statement into an online greeting card he made for me.

        Favorite birthday present ever was something that didn’t cost the giver anything (a pair of my brother’s faded Levi jeans) but gave me great pleasure. I had always been a rather chubby child, but had slimmed down in college. And I wanted my skinny brother’s straight legged, softly faded, button-front Levis. I covered them with embroidery, had great times in them, and still have the jeans (the birthday was in the 1980’s). When I am slim, I can still fit in those jeans.

        In 2006, for my 25th birthday, my boyfriend took me out to dinner to the revolving restaurant on the Space Needle in Seattle…then proposed afterward on the observation deck with all the lights of Seattle sparking around us. It was amazing.

        Happy Birthday! My favorite gift was a hand-drawn card from my Uncle. Every year he would ask my mom for a recent photo of me and then he would draw a picture of me in some silly situation. I looked forward to receiving those cards because they always made me laugh.

        Best Birthday Present Ever – this past year, when my 15 & 16 year old sons surprised me with a Creative Zen MP3! They saved their money and bought this for me all on their own!! I was blown away and touched beyond measure! :) I had wanted one forever and they did all they could to see that I got one. Can’t beat that! My teenagers love me! :)

        I think that my favorite birthday present ever was when I got my Meredith doll. It is a Cabbage Patch Kid that I got when I was 2; when I saw it, I thought it looked like me and named it after myself.

        I also really like the King Size brown blanket that I got. It is super soft and I call it my Teddy Bear Blanket. It keeps me nice and warm.

        My favorite birthday gift was a collage my mom made for me of me and my grandmother. I’d been bugging my mom for years it felt like to make me copies of the few photos she had of my grandmother. I was really surprised when she gave it to me. I really love that collage.

        When I was 5 my uncle gave my a stuffed St. Bernard. I named it Shane after my grandparents dog who had been killed by an intruder a few weeks before. I slept whit Shane into my 20’s and I still have him.

        The best birthday gift I got was from my fiance at the time (now my husband). He took me and my family to Starbucks for coffee and showered me with a ton of new clothes. I’m talking the whole outfit a few of them. Skirts, tops, necklaces, earings, so sweet. Well, the day didn’t end there. He took me along with a few of our family members and friends to San Francisco to admire the golden gate bridge from the park, he brought picnic blankets, food and we had a great time! So romantic it was a great birthday!! Just for the record, we have been married for 6 years and he is still romantic! Thank you for entering me. I knew we were going out but not where. before we left he gave me on envelope with a “clue” as to where we were going. Once we arrived at dinner, I then got another “clue”. It was so fun and meant so much because he spent alot of time into making it fun and original.

        The best birthday gift I ever had wasn’t a physical gift but the gift of a memory. It’s the one of only 2 actual memories I have of my mother. It is a memory of her putting together my 4th year birthday party. She was putting up balloons for it and one of the balloons looked like a giant had. No physical gift can ever be more precious then that memory. She died before I turned 5.

Since I had moved away some years before, it was a total surprise. I had not seen some of these people for years. It was wonderful to celebrate with my friends and the cake was great, too!

        This is going to sound funny, but I can’t really remember any single gift that was the absolute best. Mostly I think of sharing chocolate cheesecake with my sister or going to the beach at sunset with my entire family, things like that.         My hubby was working a flower show that ended and he brought home a wonderful gift. 22 long stem roses. The punch line is it was 22 dozen. I was in flower heaven for a long time. Great gift. I will never get again and I was thrilled to receive it.

        This year was my favorite birthday – a mom of 2.5 months, tired, exhausted, and my birthday was on a Monday – the one evening a week my hubby usually hangs out with the guys. Instead he took me to Applebees (NOT our traditional Olive Garden since baby’s allergic to milk and you can’t do Olive Garden without cheese!!) and then he watched the baby so I could get some new jeans that FIT this different body of mine. :)

        When I was a sophomore in college I had been estranged from my parents that year and rented a room from an old lady. I had barely spoken or seen my parents for about 10 months. On my birthday my mother came to see me at the place where I lived and invited me to move back in at home. THAT was the best gift – loving acceptance.

        I guess I would say my favorite birthday gift was given to me 2 years ago. I am a huge Rick Springfield fan and there happened to be a concert the night of my birthday. We were staying in a hotel for the weekend and my friends decorated the hotel room to the max, birthday streamers, pictures, birthday cake, champagne, gifts…my friends made the night the most fun….we laughed and had so much fun. So, although I have gotten some great physical gifts in the past, this gift of spending time with my friends and having so much fun is definitely the best present I could have gotten.         My best birthday gift I got for my 16th birthday 20 years ago and it wasn’t a car. My dad gave me a set of key rings – on 1 ring was the outline of a house and the other a car and there’s a notch on each so they inter-lock. they’re all dull now that all the silver has worned off but I’ve never seen something like it in all the years I’ve had it.
        It’s great when going out for the evening with a small purse – lock the house keys in the glove department which leaves me with the car key and car outline. Or have the car serviced – do you trust your house keys with the attendent they know where you live, simply seperate(no broken nails trying to take 1 key off)and hand off the car key only. There have so many times I was thankful for being able to seperate the different keys.
        The ironic part I was talking to my step-mom about it one time and my Dad not only didn’t remember giving it to me but acted shocked that he did give it to me.

        All those happy with cash that’s nothing. My family always gives cash or gift cards for birthday and Christmas. I’m always thankful for it but something small thats meaningful is better.

        My favorite birthday present is one I recently received. My birthday was earlier this month and was four days prior to my daughter’s third open heart surgery. All I wanted for my birthday was for the surgery and recovery to go well. I am so pleased to say that we came home yesterday, just 12 days after her surgery, and today is her 3rd birthday!

        My favorite gift was a backyard carnival for my 8th birthday. We had everything but a pony there! Games for my friends to play like at the fair, prizes, a clown… it was so much fun. I don’t remember any presents from the 30 attendees that came but I’ll always remember my cake, my clown and my friends!

        Well…I cried I was so happy when I got my Strawberry Shortcake doll the summer after kindergarten, but I think my favorite gift was when my then-boyfriend (now husband) took the day off of work to take me on a picnic, followed by giving me a huge print of my favorite painting, followed by seeing “The Lion King” musical. I _thought_ he was going to propose that day too, but am kinda glad he didn’t. Gives us more days to celebrate this way! Plus, he made a whole (wonderful) day of that too just two weeks later!

        Hands off, ladies. He’s all mine! :)

        The best birthday gift I ever got was when I was 24 years old. I went to buy my first car (it was used but really in good shape). I had enough money saved to pay half of it right then and there, then I was going to finance the rest, but my Dad handed the man cash for the other half. I thought I would be paying him back, so I asked him “How much a month do you want me to give you, and how much interest?” He told me nothing. It was so cool, and really helped me out a great deal, because I was going to have to start paying car insurance and buy some new tires for it.

My grandmother gave me not only her high school class ring (which I loved) but also a pair of beautiful emerald earrings that belonged to her mother (I gave those earrings to my daughter last year for her 18th birthday & my grandmother was thrilled that I had continued the 18th birthday tradition ~ she passed away 3 months later so I’m really glad she knew that her mothers earrings had been passed down)

        Favorite birthday gift – At least my most memorable…My first car at 16…I did not know I was getting in and was very surprised. I loved and hated it..I loved having wheels but hated the look. My parents gave me an 11 year old car-hand me down from my grandmother..1964 Rambler…..Huge steering wheel..My younger siblings would not ride with me…I kept it for a year and it got me where I needed to go. I was working so saved money to buy another older car but a more sporty one….

        Oh! That’s tough! I think it would have to be the year before last when DH got me a new bed set (comforter, shams, etc)! I know it doesn’t sound like much, but the fact that he thought of it all on his own is what made it special!

        Of course, this last year was nice too! He took me 6 hrs south to spend 4 days with my BFF! And didn’t complain the WHOLE WEEKEND!

        My favorite birthday gift was when I was about 7. I used to spend every Saturday in my room singing to records in the mirror – fantasizing about being a star someday…

        My needle eventually broke and for my birthday, I wanted my dad to get me a new needle. Now the thing probably cost him a whole .50 cents in those days. And it wasn’t like we couldn’t afford it, but dad worked a lot and we didn’t see him much cause he worked afternoon turn.

        I was overwhelmed and cried when he was putting it on!

It is called “A Mother’s Legacy” and I loved being able to read about her life and the things that were important to her – it really helped me know her better, and now I have a unique treasure to pass on to my children from their grandmother.

        y favorite birthday gift happen to be from my youngest daughter. She made me breakfast one time (she was only 6 at the time) It was scrabbled eggs (complete with shell bits), bacon, toast and strawberry milk. Then she done the dishes for me (she let the dog lick them clean). Not the typical best gift but the memory of how she loved me is priceless. That is the best gift one could ask for.

        This is a funny one but it is my favorite birthday gift from my dad and a great memory I have. I had stiches on my chin when I was 8 years old and my dad thought it looked like rat hair’s. So on my birthday cake he put on it, “Happy Birthday Rat Hairs”. We all got a good laugh out of it and I thought it was great. Thanks.

        My favorite birthday gift was a trip to Belgium with my hubby and cousins to visit our cousins who live in Dinant, Belgium. It was incredible! But the best birthday gift I ever received was the day that I was born again.

        The best birthday present I ever received was a white ten-speed bike, it was beautiful! I think I was 12. I would slip into a tight bike suit and ride that baby all over town. I can remember how happy that bike made me feel:)

        It was our first year living abroad. My mom surprised me with airline tickets back to the states so we could attend a stitching retreat. She paid for everything. It was so wonderful and we had such a great time!

        THE BEST PRESENT I EVER GOT WAS A square RED BOX LOOKING PURSE. I WAS A CHILD. AT THE TIME I HATED THE PURSE BUT I PUT THE BIGGEST SMILE ON MY FACE TO MY MOTHER.
