Kick-off Summer Giveaway!




I wrote about the purpose of these giveaways in my last post, and I really can’t think of a better way to kick off June and the start of summer than by having a giveaway. If you haven’t had time to slog your way through that never ending post, basically I’ve got some very cool prizes to give away. I’ve also got a son who has the awesome opportunity to march in the Rose Bowl Parade with the high school band, but the cost is out of our reach. So I’m borrowing an idea from another blogger who wanted to raise money to attend a blogging conference. This giveaway will be pretty much the same as any other giveaway I’ve held, except that you will have the option to earn extra entries if you want to contribute to my son’s band trip fund. No donation or financial contribution is required to enter or to win; there are many other ways to enter.

I’ve got several prizes, so we’re going to drag out the fun a little. I’ll announce each prize or set of prizes separately, so there will be some overlap. Here’s how the giveaways will work:

 The first prize that I’ll be giving away is a brand new Canon PowerShot A3100 IS. Perfect for summer vacation, sporting events, or just having fun at home. You know you want one :)

Here’s how to enter to win this little baby:

The only required entry is to leave a comment here telling me if you have any exciting plans for this summer. Exciting is a pretty loose term; a picnic in the park is exciting, so is a family vacation. Just share your summer plans with me, because mine all revolve around a classroom and lots of homework, which is definitely not exciting. One comment per person, but there are other ways to enter.

  • For an extra entry, tweet on Twitter about this giveaway.  This may be done twice per day; more than twice per day will not be counted. Leave a comment for each tweet with the link to your comment and your Twitter id.

For each of the above that you do, leave one comment on this giveaway post, ie  one comment if you subscribe, one comment if you follow me on GFC, one comment if you follow me on Twitter, one comment for each tweet, one comment for mentioning this on your blog.

Your comments may not show up immediately. Please do not post the same comment/entry more than once; all the comments will show up shortly.

Okay, that gives you a lot of opportunities to enter. After all that, if you’d like to help me send my son to the Rose Bowl Parade with his school band, you are more than welcome to do so, and I will be forever grateful. For every $5 donation, you get five extra entries for the giveaway. So $10 = 10 entries, and so on. Of course, you do not have to donate to enter or to win.  All donations will be used to help pay for his band trip. If I raise more money than the cost of the trip, I will give the excess to the band patrons association to be used to help other students who cannot afford to go. If this is something you feel called to do, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and so does my boy.

If you donate, you can leave a comment on this giveaway post just stating that you donated, but you don’t have to. I get a confirmation email for every donation, and I can also verify donations in my Paypal account. I will have a record of your donation and the amount, so I can keep track of the entries. Please use this donate button for this giveaway; do not use the button that will be in the upcoming giveaway post later this week. To keep track of entries correctly, each donate button is coded differently.


 

This giveaway is open to US addresses only.  Please make sure you leave a valid email address with each entry.  Each entry will be assigned a number and the winner will be chosen via random.org. The winner will have 72 hours to respond to my email notification.  If I do not hear back within that time I will pick another winner.

This giveaway will end Wednesday, June 9 at midnight CST.  This giveaway has ended. I will verify the entries and notify the winner via email; as soon as I hear back from the winner, I will announce it here. Thanks for entering!

I will post another “Kick-off Summer” giveaway on Wednesday, June 2. To simplify record keeping, each giveaway will be separate and will have separate entry methods, even though the dates will overlap some. Good luck!

        We really don’t have any exciting plans this summer, mostly because our exciting plans have already passed. We took a Transatlantic Cruise as a family in April. It was fabulous, but now the vacation budget is gone till next year :)

        Well, my personal most exciting plan is to have all of my immediate family (older girls and grandbebes and my own bebes still at home) get together to visit Niagara Falls.

        My Not-So-Bebe Girl gets to go take some early college classes, and will also do a work/study program in Korea this summer – so SHE’S very excited!

        Bebe Boy James has soccer camp and vacation bible school scheduled – I honestly don’t know which he likes better – he looks forward to both every year for the past 3 years!

        That is so exciting for your boy! Many of my friends are in band and I know they would be beyond thrilled if they ever got the chance to do that. I wish I could offer some help financially, but as I myself am trying to save every dollar I can for my first year of college this fall, all I can offer is my sincerest hope that you will raise enough money for him to go. My fingers are crossed for you guys!

        My friend, who was trying to raise money to go on a trip to New York with the school’s dance team, made 100 Oreo Balls and sold them for $1 each. She sold all of them, they were a huge hit! She told me they were pretty easy to make, so maybe you and your son could borrow her idea! Although, I’m not sure how willing your boy would be to sell baked goods at school, haha :)

        My “exciting” plans for this summer revolve around spending quality time with my high school friends before we all go our separate ways for college. Must…not…cry… haha :’)

        Good luck in the fall, that is an exciting time! Have fun this summer, I remember that final summer before college. Fun yet bittersweet. Enjoy!

        The oreo balls are a great idea…although I doubt that many would make it to the school from my house – I have a hard time resisting those! The band has several group fundraisers throughout the year, I think we’re required to stick with those, at least on school property. We’re brainstorming for other fundraiser options, thanks for the idea!

        We put in a garden with an abundance of tomato plants. The first day I pluck a ripe, red tomato from the plant and slice it up for breakfast (or lunch, or dinner) is super exciting! Really. I’m not joking. I love Indiana tomatoes fresh from the garden.

        My sister will be visiting several times this summer. We are taking our soon to be 3 year old son to Knoebels {a family-run amusement park in PA} for a couple of days of rides and games as well as camping. In August {of every year} we camp on my fiancee’s mom’s lawn for Nascar race weekend and park cars on her lawn {to help her earn money to help pay her land taxes}. Anyway…it’s all stuff that I could definitely use a camera for! Thanks for the chance!

        We have to stay home, due to my son’s health. But our town has a fun event called river days. There are historical reenactments, like a baseball game played like it would have looked in the 1800’s. People get dressed in time period clothes and set up tents and tepees. There is even a riverboat that you can ride. My son looks forward to it all year.

        Our summer will mostly be spent the same way the rest of the year is in FL. Hanging out by the pool or at the beach and working. My son will be at summer camp at his school. Next weekend my husband and I are taking that anniversary weekend and we just got back from Disney. No big plans until December when we go on a cruise.

        We will go in search of the sun. (My husband, pup and myself) We are tired of rain storms.Will pack ourselves into the car for two or three days. We will just go the way of the wind and the sun.

        We are very excited that our daughter will actually commit to getting the wisdom teeth out! Her schedule is a challenge and she said

        My summer will be spent working on a small business I just started! I have an etsy shop that I am in the process of stocking – so that will take a lot of time – and lots of photos to show off the fused glass art that I make! Besides that – lots of fruit and veggie picking in my own garden at at a pick your own farm a few miles from my house! Can’t wait!!!

        We kicked off our summer with our youngest baby girl graduating from high school she was granted a scholorship to the best collage in this area and one of the best over all. She is planing on being a doctor. Her travels through school have been amazing 4.0 all the way with so many awards I don’t know what to do with them. We hope to celabrate with a trip to Oregon.

        I would love a Canon Powershot camera I could see the seeds on the strwberries that i will grow and be able to take pictures of a baby with this camera. It will work for animals and pictures of skin for dermatology. I am a sweepstaker and will use it for snapshots of me and my messy rooms.

        we are moving to minneapolis. we will be packing and move and unpacking all before august and my grand daughter starts a new college. the highlight will be going to see the new vampire movie and my grandkids want to go and see. i am so jealous of all the other people having fun and going to wonderful places.         Our summer plans are pretty laid back this year. We did a lot of travel in the spring and have a few things planned for the fall. We are going to work on our yard this summer, and just spend time being a family. I think we all need to just hang out and be together. I am looking towards backyard bbq’s, the grandparents coming for a visit and sprinkler running!

        We are staying around town this summer! My town has a free school lunch program for all kids under 18, our library has free movies every week (on screen) and every Saturday the kids go swimming for free! We LOVE summer! There is also a splash park nearby where we can go to cool off for free, can’t beat that!

        Exciting plans for summer.. I really have to think long and hard on this one. I’m another victim of the economy who lost their job and I was fresh out of college. I was luckily able to find a part time job (no where near my career field from college) just to cover the bills. So while rubbing pennies together and wishing they would magically multiply, the most exciting things I will be doing this summer is attending weddings. I’ve already attended one this past June 5th and I have another on August 7th. This camera would be great to be able to take pictures at the next event!

        Me and the kids will be packing up and driving 12 hours to grandma’s house. Doing it in June so that I can sort of get it over with. 12 hours just doesn’t excite me. The rest of the summer will be spent relaxing and enjoying all the awesome state parks around our house. Lots of swimming and exploring.

        Last year I had a sudden severe unexpected illness and had to be in bed for months, so this summer EVERYTHING seems exciting, going for long walks with my sweet and intelligent German Shepherd Husky mix dog Birdie along the lakefront, attending art openings and movies, seeing bits of opera performed in coffeehouses – you learn to appreciate life so much more when you get older! When I was younger excited was a trip to London or Bali (not that I could go often at all)!

        No major exciting plans this summer.We’ll be spending the days watching our grandkids while their parents work. We’ll go to the park and library a lot. Take a few trips to the zoo and some other fun summer activities in the area. We just want to spend some quality time with the kids.

        We have committed to a vacation in Florida next month which, at any other time, would be tipping the scales with excitement. The oil catastrophe in the Gulf, however, has our approach more along the lines of hopeful anticipation. Either way, a digital camera would be a very handy device to capture our experience! :)

        My summer plans are to hopefully visit New York City in early July! This will be the first time I’m visit New York. I’m absolutely excited, and eager to visit all the famous sites in New York City! I could really use this prize on my trip, as my camera was unfortunately stolen at school. I want to be able to cherish all the wonderful memories I will make on my fantastic trip to New York City. I will also be taking my mom along with me, as it’s her birthday, and I think this would make the perfect present! I mean who wouldn’t want to spend their birthday in the city that never sleeps!

        I can’t wait to put the boat in the lake and have fun with the kids skiing, tubing and fishing! We love being out side and being together. I have teenagers so to find something that will keep them home once in awhile is great!

        No great plans here. I’m still looking for a job. I took a temporary job with the census bureau to be an enumerator, but they had too many people for my area, so they wanted me to do a not-so-good part of the city which I was unwilling to do for safety reasons.
        I do have two weddings to go to – one locally and one in Maryland that I’ll need to travel for. We’ll see a lot of faraway family members for that one.

        So that’s it for my summer!
