The first Kick Off Summer giveaway is still going on, but I think summer deserves another giveaway:) The rules will be the same; the prize is different. But familiar.

Enter to win one of two - $100 Target gift cards. That’s right, there will be two winners this time. It just seemed like the right thing to do. Who doesn’t love Target? I’m reposting all the rules again, but they’re pretty much identical to the PowerShot giveaway.

Here’s how to enter:

The only required entry is to leave a comment here telling me your most memorable summer vacation. Did you go on a great vacation recently, or when you were a child? It could be a long trip or a short weekend getaway, just share your favorite summer trip with me. One comment per person, but there are other ways to enter.

More ways to enter:

  • Subscribe to Unexpected Bliss.
  • Follow me on Google Friend Connect (right sidebar)
  • Mention this giveaway on your blog (include direct link in your comment)
  • Follow me on Twitter (@UnexpectedBliss), leave a comment with your Twitter id.
  • For an extra entry, tweet on Twitter about this giveaway.  This may be done twice per day; more than twice per day will not be counted. Leave a comment for each tweet with the link to your comment and your Twitter id.

For each of the above that you do, leave one comment on this giveaway post, ie  one comment if you subscribe, one comment if you follow me on GFC, one comment if you follow me on Twitter, one comment for each tweet, one comment for mentioning this on your blog.

Your comments may not show up immediately. Please do not post the same comment/entry more than once; all the comments will show up shortly.

Okay, that gives you a lot of opportunities to enter. After all that, if you’d like to help me send my son to the Rose Bowl Parade with his school band, you are more than welcome to do so, and I will be forever grateful. For every $5 donation, you get five extra entries for the giveaway. So $10 = 10 entries, and so on. Of course, you do not have to donate to enter or to win.  All donations will be used to help pay for his band trip. If I raise more money than the cost of the trip, I will give the excess to the band patrons association to be used to help other students who cannot afford to go. If this is something you feel called to do, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and so does my boy.

If you donate, you can leave a comment on this giveaway post just stating that you donated, but you don’t have to. I get a confirmation email for every donation, and I can also verify donations in my Paypal account. I will have a record of your donation and the amount, so I can keep track of the entries. Please use this donate button for this giveaway; do not use the button that will be in the upcoming giveaway post later this week. To keep track of entries correctly, each donate button is coded differently.

This giveaway is open to US addresses only

Please make sure you leave a valid email address with each entry.  Each entry will be assigned a number and the winners will be chosen via random.org. The winners will have 72 hours to respond to my email notification.  If I do not hear back within that time I will pick another winner.

This giveaway will end Monday, June 14 at midnight CST. This giveaway has ended. The winners will be emailed after verification of all entries, and posted here after responding to the notification email. Thank  you for entering!

I will post the final “Kick-off Summer” giveaway on Friday, June 4. To simplify record keeping, each giveaway will be separate and will have separate entry methods, even though the dates will overlap some. Good luck!

Questions? Email me at unexpectedblissmail at gmail dot com

This is not a sponsored giveaway. I purchased this gift card myself; Target does not know I exist. They should, but they don’t.

My most memorable vacation for summer was when I was 12 and my siblings and I went to California to spend time with my grandfather and aunts and uncles. On the way home we went to Yosemite and Yellowstone and saw Mount Rushmore.

My most memorable vacation was when I toured Europe as a teenager with my friends. It was amazing seeing another part of the world and spending time with people from other cultures.

For my honeymoon 6 years ago this month, we took a road trip that lasted about 4000 miles and took us to places like Niagara Falls, Boston, NYC, and D.C. We survived our first 2 weeks of marriage in a tiny car. We can do anything!

My most memorable summer vacation was a trip to CA a few months after my husband and I got married in 2007. We had a few day honeymoon right after getting married in June to a bed and breakfast, but then took this trip in August. It was just a great time, lots of relaxing time with my Godmother and her family that we were staying with, but also lots of time to do fun things like go to an Angels baseball game, go to the San Diego Zoo, the beach, and hollywood. It was wonderful!:)

Ah, my best vacation memory was going to Colorado w/my parents and another couple. I was the only kid along & had so much fun. I had just saved enough to get my first camera and took a ton of pictures during the trip. Colorado Springs, The Royal Gorge, Denver, and many stops between. We drove all the way from Missouri & it was such an awesome trip. I still have the scrapbook I made afterwards.

My favorite vacation was about 10 years ago when we took the kids to Walt Disney World. We’d talked about going for several years but just never wanted to spend the money for air fare, tickets, hotels, food, souvenirs, etc. I finally gave in and we spent 10 days having the time of our lives. Now my kids are grown and gone and I want to go back with just hubby and me, no kids this time.

One of my fave getaways was to the Niagara Falls when I was a child. I loved 1. the majestic feel to such a powerful natural wonder. 2. That they filmed one of the superman movies at the falls, and thought it was really cool (hey i was a kid.) We lived in detroit back then, so the drive wasn’t too far, but we actually went back a couple times :) And everytime, it was always fun putting on those bright yellow capes, and floating towards the huge fall, and going around the back of the fall. Thrilling as a youngster :)

I’ve been on several awesome vacations but the best is probably the year I graduated high school. My aunt surprised me with a trip to Italy. Her and I spent 2 weeks all over Italy and it was great. I was in Florence for July 4th which was a little odd for me, having spent so many wonderful Independance Days @ Liberty State Park (I’m from NJ).

Tough call, but I’d have to say our family trip to Wyoming 1969. We had a brand new station wagon, my uncle (who was only two years older than my older brother) went along, we saw The Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, and my dad was so goofy–it makes me smile to think about.

I also was given a brand new “Twist and Turn” Barbie on that trip. Quite the innovation for the time!

My most memorable summer vacation was when my family and I went to Yosemite and we did the usual hiking up various trails and such. Then on the day before we had to leave, a bear broke into our car, because my brother left a juice box in the car. My most memorable summer vacation was one that I took with my hubby and 2 kids (back when it was just 2!! ;-) )

We went to Daytona Beach and for the first time in my life it wasn’t just about getting there and getting back! We enjoyed the whole trip…the way down there and back. We took our time and ’saw the sights’ and did plenty of family-friendly things! It was so wonderful…and I hope to do it again sometime!

My most memorable summer vacation was back before my parents divorsed and we all went to Kentucky and Tennesee. Went to the Grand Ol Opery, and went in all the cave with the stalagmites and things. Seen many peacocks.

        Had a blast.

my most memorable was not the best vacation. My first husband and I went to the Bahamas and a hurricane passed over the island. The next day, we went to the beach, I got bit by a bug and had a bad allergic reaction. I was rushed to the clinic to be treated and while I was on the table, by husband threw up all the Bahama Mamas he drank.

Wow I have had some memorable vacations, each for its own reason, but one I really treasure was many years ago when I had 7 children. My husband, the kids & I, loaded up our station wagon & our fold-down camper and headed out west from Iowa. We went to Utah first to go to the temple there in Logan, then visited family & friends, then to the world’s fair in Spokane, WA, and drove down the Cal. coast & went to Disneyland, then we headed home. We were gone a month and had $1.50 left when we came home! LOL But it was wonderful! My oldest was 10 and the baby 10mos, with a pair of 2yr olds and 3yr, 5yr, & 8yr mixed in! I loved at night all snuggled in the camper when we would read the scriptures together as a family, it was a great trip!

Most memorable (and favorite) vacation memory is when my parents took me to see my (much) older sister living in Maine. Growing up in Maryland we had hazy hot and humid summers, but summers in Maine were cool and humid free. My sister would take me wild blueberry picking, to the beach (though it was too cold to swim) and make homemade clam chowder, and occassioally a lobster dinner!

We all got Cowboy hats to wear on that vacation and an indian blanket, which I kept for decades after until it finally bit the dust so to speak. It was and still is, my favorite memory!

My most memorable summer vacation is going to Colorado w/ my family when I was 14. We toured the Coors factory, saw Pike’s Peak and took a tour through a cave. It was such a great time w/ my parents and siblings.

One of my most memorable summer vacations was the summer of 1998 when Hurricane Floyd hit the NC coast. It was the first time hubby and I had rented a beach front house for a week and on the 2nd day we were there, we got a mandatory evacuate notice! The whole island that is Holden Beach was evacuated for over 24hrs. We had to find a hotel room inland and we ended up getting the last room at this little hotel about 2 hours inland. We did not sleep a wink and watched the weather channel all night. The next day we went back and they would not let us back across to the island until 5pm that evening! So we were stuck at an ice cream parlor for over 8 hours! It was insane! The rest of the week was gorgeous and fun but that two day stretch was so stressful!
        GREAT shelling though! LOL

hmm this is a hard one as I have had so many…but I guess this one trumps most. When I was 17, I took a bus tour of 15 European countries. I was a foreign exchange student to Sweden and went with a bunch of other exchange students from my area of Sweden that summer before coming home after a year away. It was amazing and I have a VERY large duffel bag full of memories from that summer.

My two teenage daughters and I drove cross-country for 2 1/2 weeks several years ago. We saw the Rockies, the Grand Canyon, Roswell, NM and lots of stops in between! We have such wonderful memories!

I’m glad I found this, I emailed you about my own “band children” and their experiences – well worth it! I know how it all can add up with band, you will be doing a lot of fund raising. This is a great way to help your child and share the wealth with us, so thank you! Good luck to your son, he will always remember that experience.
